The Conference Centre at the RAF Museum London, one of London’s premier tourist attractions, is easy to reach by road, rail and air… just 10 minutes from Junction 4 of the M1 (parking is free), 30 minutes from Central London by Underground and within 35 miles or less of four major London airports.
> ARRIVING BY RAIL (OVERGROUND OR UNDERGROUND)
ARRIVING BY LONDON UNDERGROUND (TUBE)
The Museum is situated at Colindale Underground on the Edgware branch of the Northern Line. Please alight at Colindale, not Hendon Central. Colindale is in Zone 4.
If you are not familiar with the London Underground, you can pick up a map free of charge from any Underground station or view/download one here. For useful ticketing information and service updates, visit the Transport For London Journey Planner: www.tfl.gov.uk.
To travel to the Museum, get on the Northern Line (the black line on the maps) travelling North. The Northern Line runs through Euston and Kings Cross stations so this can be a useful place to pick it up.
The two branches of the Northern Line merge at Camden Town. You need to be on a train travelling to EDGWARE (known as the Edgware Branch). If you are on the other line (the High Barnet Branch), then change at Camden Town onto an Edgware train.
Stay on the Northern Line and alight at Colindale station, not Hendon Central. The journey should take around half an hour from Kings Cross.
There is only one exit from Colindale station. Turn left out of the Station and walk straight along the road for about 10 minutes – you will need to cross a roundabout and to stay on the right hand side of the road as the pavement runs out on the left after the roundabout. The RAF Museum is on the right hand side of the road.
ARRIVING BY OVERGROUND
Mill Hill Broadway is the nearest overground rail station (on the Luton/Kings Cross/Thameslink line).
It takes about 20 minutes to walk from the station to the RAF Museum. As you exit the station there are mini-cabs available. Alternatively if you decide to walk turn immediately left on exiting the station and left again under the road/rail bridge, then left along Bunns Lane and continue.
The National Rail Enquiries website may be helpful for planning your overground/mainline railway journey, see: National Rail Enquiries: www.nationalrail.co.uk/.
> ARRIVING BY ROAD
There is ample free parking at the RAF Museum for those attending the Conference. (Parking permits will be sent to all those delegates travelling by car.)
The RAF Museum is adjacent to the M1 (with easy access to the M25 and North Circular), and is only 30 minutes from Central London by road.
Follow the brown and white tourist signs for the RAF Museum from the M25, M1 (Junction 4 Southbound), A41, A5 and North Circular (A406) roads.
(SatNav Users – some SatNav systems have incorrectly indexed the RAF Museum’s postcode… so instead of using the postcode please navigate to “Grahame Park Way” instead, or use the postcode NW9 5QW which will direct you to the small industrial estate next to the Museum.)
> ARRIVING BY TAXI
London’s black taxi cabs have a light on the front displaying the word ‘TAXI’ and can be hailed in the street however travelling by taxi can be expensive for long journeys (especially black taxi cabs) and may be slow depending on the level of congestion.
Instead of travelling by taxi from Central London we would recommend using London Underground but if you wish to travel by taxi we suggest you book a reputable taxi service, agreeing the price before beginning your journey, see: www.tfl.gov.uk/modes/taxis-and-minicabs/book-a-taxi and/or www.tfl.gov.uk/modes/taxis-and-minicabs/taxi-and-minicab-apps.
> ARRIVING BY PLANE
